Commission A Portrait

**Currently not taking commissions due to ill health**

Prices are based the size, medium and the number of subjects within the same portrait. Each portrait takes hours to complete, the larger the portrait the longer it takes.

All prices below are for unframed portraits, although framing and matting is available at an additional option, upon request.

The prices below are the most popular standard sizes and will fit in standard sized frames - I have listed both traditional sizes and square sizes for a contemporary look. I offer custom sizes for a unique personal portrait size :), so please get in touch if you have a particular size in mind.

I ship worldwide so please, email for postage rates to your destination

Below is Prices for Coloured Pencil and Graphite or Charcoal portraits.

Additional Subjects

Some sizes are unsuitable for multiple pets due to the lack of detail I would be able to portray. Here is a guide that I recommend for portraits included more than one pet:

2 pets: From size 8x10 upwards

3 pets: From size 11x14 upwards

4 pets: From size 12x16 upwards

For 5 pets or more, please contact me.

Full Body Study

If you would like a full body portrait instead of the traditional head study, please add 25% for a single pet. Also, if you would like a head portrait with a body study of the same animal within the portrait (left or right corner below head portrait) I can also do this, please add 50% to the 1 pet portrait you select. Please contact me for full body portraits with multiple pets.

Backgrounds

If you require a background please add 15% onto on portrait.

What materials do you use for colour pencil portraits?

I use a high quality archival grade oil based pencils by Faber Castell , and occasionally a wax based pencil for highlights by Caran’dache. These pencils have been tested to exposure of sunlight and have come out at the top of the market.

Do you require a deposit?

You will not pay a deposit until I start the portrait, I ask for 35% deposit and the remainder on completion (delivery/collection).

How long does it take to complete a drawing?

It takes many hours to complete a portrait depending on the size and the medium used. At present I do not have a waiting list so the wait is 4 weeks from the date the portrait is started. At busy periods I will be introducing a waiting list - (no deposit is required to be on the waiting list and can cancel at anytime)

Payment is required within 30 days of completion of the portrait unless other arrangments have been agreed in advance.

Mounting/Matting

A stunning way to finish your portrait off is to have your portrait mounted/matted with a backing board. All my picture mounts are cut to a  deep 45 degree bevel cut to give your portrait more depth, are 100% acid free, using conservation mountboard which is essential to guarantee protection and longevity of your portrait, guarding against staining. All my mounts comply to the Fine Art Trade Guild Conservation level.

Framing

Framing is a very personal choice and should you decide to have your portrait supplied framed I will work closely with you to choose the perfect moulding. I use a professional framer for all my framing needs who has a vast array of mouldings available. Please enquire for more details.
